MDFPA - visits magician, LANCE BURTON

Magician friend John Measner and I took a power trip to Ashland, Kentucky via Columbus, Ohio in order to catch a performance by Lance Burton in his home state. We did get to meet Lance, shake his hand and wish him a great show, as we walked out of the hotel and headed toward the theater.

Originally from Louisville Kentucky, Lance obtained great notoriety by performing for Johnny Carson -Tonight Show, back on October 28th, 1981. Carson, who also started out as a magician, was very impressed. Soon Lance was off to Las Vegas performing at , Folies Bergere for 9 years, Hacienda for 5 years and ultimately the Monte Carlo until September 4th, 2010.

The gorgeous Paramount first opened on September 5, 1931

Originally built to showcase films produced by Paramount Pictures

Lance is busy with young apprentices eager to learn more.

Autographs and photos were highly prized by these youngsters.

I was very impressed with the time Lance took with his young fans and it became apparent that he truly wants to encourage them and “pass the torch” or “wand”, if you will.

Friends - Keith West, Michael Goudeau and Jim Barber also brought the FUN with some crazy shenanigans and amazing illusions.
